Vanessa Carlton’s Veils

If you’ve been a fan of Vanessa Carlton since the early 2000’s, her new songs “The Mountain” and “Agony Of The Flower” will bring you right back to the first time you heard her. The remainder of her new album, Veils, has the experimental electronic sound she’s been toying with on her past few albums.

Vanessa’s ten-track dreamscape unfurls mystically through her poetic lyricism over mostly ballads. Being a sucker for something more upbeat, “Woke Up High” and “He Was A Dancer” are definitely my speed. Vanessa’s voice hasn’t changed over the years. Her vocals on Veils are hauntingly altered but without losing her essence.

Veils can satisfy Vanessa’s hard-core fans but also introduce her to a new audience that is interested in something different than what every other artist is offering today, in my gay opinion.
