Today’s the day I’ve been waiting years for, the drop of a new KiKi Holli + The Remedy EP, Something About You. The five-track EP is catchy retro rock like Kiki’s previous EP, Chemical Love; four original songs and a slow-jam cover of “Don’t Change” by INXS. KiKi is remincent of rock chicks like Grace Slick or Heart’s Wilson sisters and sounding a lot like Bridget Everett but without the dick jokes. In my gay opinion, this is the EP to put on when you’re feeling nostalgic for 70’s classic rock but want something modern.
Funny side note: I believed I hadn’t heard of KiKi Holli until her EP was recommended to me in 2022. However, back in December of 2012, my partner and I saw a great show in New York City called Forever Dusty: The Dusty Springfield Musical. With a title like that, how could two gays of a certain age pass it up? Today I learned, KiKi cowrote and starred in it, so I’ve been a KiKi fan longer than I knew. Man, if I could talk to Past Dave, I’d order him to stalk KiKi at the stage door and get my ticket stub signed.
