Welcome to Throwback Tuesday with a Today Twist!
Back in the day, when radio was still a major thing, DJs used to take song requests and long-distance dedications from listeners who were loving, missing or secretly crushing on someone special in their lives. The last holdout, that I’m aware of, is Delilah and her Love Songs At Night national radio show. I’ve personally spent many evening hours driving home from different concerts or events laughing, rolling my eyes, and sighing “awws” to Delilah’s dedications and words of wisdom.
Move over YMCA!
In honor of the long-standing tradition of requests, let me share with you a little something from my mail sack…that sounds so dirty. MD from the internet reached out to me here with the following message: “hey bitch we need some chappell roan in here babe like she is the reason im gay ok purr” First off, I don’t think anyone ever called Delilah “bitch”, but I’ll take it. Second, a little punctuation might not hurt. Third, this made me laugh and therefore, here’s my first ever gay opinion based on a request.
I feel so seen! Matadors getting gored or hunters shooting one another is my porn, karma can be a beautiful thing.
I heard of Chappell Roan but never listened to her until now. This year, Chappell did ping my gaydar during her MTV VMA Best New Artist acceptance speech dedicating it to “all the queer kids in the midwest, watching right now, I see you, I understand you, because I’m one of you and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t be exactly who you want to be, Bitch!” If she’s out there helping gay kids discover who they are, more power to her. Madonna made me gay, so MD, I get it.
If I weren’t needle phobic or into the slightest amount of pain, I would totally want a “Princess” tramp stamp.
Chappell has a great sense of humor and music that’s catchy. She makes me giggle and groove, so I’m here for it. It’s great that queer kids today have a diva who’s both talented and outspoken. Recently she’s gotten some backlash for political comments she’s made, being accused of not doing enough for the QUILTBAG community, when she’s probably doing more than most of those throwing shade. Chappell could be this generations Lady Gaga, picking up the bedazzled baton where Lady G dropped it while getting on Tony Bennett’s Lark…he’s even before MY time and I’m old AF. More power to her!
This song and video just made me a little more gay!
hey bitch you welcome and it did make me proud
HA! Thanks again and I’m glad, but punctuation, bitch! HA!
