Sydney Quiseng’s That’s My Baby EP

Sydney Quiseng released her second solo EP, That’s My Baby, a couple weeks ago. Gone is the Echosmith electropop sound she had with her brothers while continuing her sweet singer/songwriter serenade story that began with last year’s Phases EP.

That’s My Baby has Sydney’s familiar pop-country sound but is beginning a new chapter. This EP is all about love. Love in the relationship she has and the love for her soon-due baby. It’ll be interesting to see what direction her music will take once she’s a mom.

Based on diva mothers of the past, there’s four paths Sydney can take:

1: Where’s my baby at – My personal favorite, the diva who pops a kid or two out, but continues putting out great music. Props to Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper and Cher.

2: Long Distance Dedication – The diva moved by her breeding experience, so she must put it to song…but just once. Both, Madonna (Ray Of Light’s “Little Star”) and Sophie B. Hawkins (Free Myself’s “You Are My Balloon”) ended their albums with these low note tributes, in my gay opinion.

3: For Ages 5 & Under – It’s sad some divas are so inspired, they feel it’s ok to waste their creative juices on children’s albums. In 1989 Olivia Newton-John put out Warm And Tender and I gay gasped when I opened Wikipedia (my research source) to find that Lisa Loeb put out seven kid’s albums, which is five more than I originally thought.

4: Beauty In The Ear Of The Beholder – We all know the proud parent that wants to subject you to baby pics, while divas want to share their Precious’ singing “talents.” On Jennifer Paige’s Starflower, “If We Be Still” has her baby’s giggles, Tori Amos‘ daughter co-sings on more than a quarter of the songs on Night Of Hunters and Gloria Estefan’s Estefan Family Christmas have both her daughter and grandson featured.

Did I show you how cute my baby Fred is?

Only time will tell what Sydney does, but until then, I’m a fan of That’s My Baby and look forward to any future musical additions to her family.
