Light Bird first hit my radar thanks to a Kickstarter campaign to get her new album, See Her, made. That’s my favorite site to discover indie artists and help get their music out into the world…unfortunately, right now it’s a transphobic world. In my gay opinion, the best way to fight this hatred is by supporting trans artists and I’m glad I could play a small part in getting this album made.
If you like your folk music with a rocking bluegrass vibe, See Her is for you. Light Bird’s sound blends country with classic rock and her style is electric guitar heavy with emotion-filled lyrics. Light Bird is a departure from my usual go-to bubblegum pop but I’m drawn to her strong vocals and quality songwriting. This is music with heart and a message from someone with a unique perspective and lived experience.
When backing Kickstarter campaigns, I never know what the final album is going to sound like. Lucky for me, See Her is even better than I hoped and look forward to hearing the direction Light Bird’s career takes in the future.
